Surveillance and Privacy Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Surveillance and Privacy - Research Paper Example This research will begin with the statement that technology had apparently dominated the various area of business, communication, transportation, and even surveillance. Specifically, the application of technology for security purposes is continuously improving and evolving. As such, surveillance devices have been paired with telecommunication to efficiently accomplish military and civilian operations with ease and accuracy. One good example of tracking device that is being used today is the Global Positioning System (GPS) that provide users with precise timing, positioning, and navigation while using satellites to determine its location. On one hand, a beeper, also known as a pager is a good example of telecommunication device that augments chances for fast-tracking and forecasting by receiving a radio signal to initiate the process. Although GPS and beeper share a common goal for speedier connection, these two devices when paired together would be a valuable tool for surveillance an d in assisting security personnel for military operations. Moreover, as the technology of fast-tracking and navigation advances, several issues and controversy rose as to how GPS should be properly handled without violating individualââ¬â¢s right to privacy. Although GPS data have given much consideration in the criminal investigation, there are US states that did not consent the use of tracking devices like GPS to vehicles owned by suspected criminals or ordinary citizens without any warrant.

Differentiation and Learning Styles Dissertation
Differentiation and Learning Styles - Dissertation Example Learners exhibit differences in their potentials that educators should focus on and to which new educators should be introduced. This is because some teachers find it challenging to deal with the differences. Many bases also exist for the differences. Some students are more brilliant than others are and some have more challenges in the learning process. Social backgrounds and language differences also form bases for differences. While identifying differences may be easy when dealing with small groups of students, large groups offer challenge but teachers can often organize students into smaller groups to facilitate personalized teacher-learner interaction and understanding of individual students (Wu 2013, 125- 133). The need for teacher training on differentiation also emerges from contradictions that result from differentiation attempts. Results from an empirical study show that policies, number of students, duration of lessons, inappropriate differentiation, and studentsââ¬â¢ di fferentiation initiatives without teachersââ¬â¢ attentions are significant factors to differentiation outcomes and teachersââ¬â¢ training on the factors is important (Rontou 2012, p. 146, 147). In addition to training educators, the educatorsââ¬â¢ approach to managing their classes has significant effects on differentiation and associated effects. An understanding of studentsââ¬â¢ background and their potentials and using this to motivate and empower students has demonstrated effectiveness in influencing learning processes.

Signs of Worker's Compensation Fraud and Abuse Essay
Signs of Worker's Compensation Fraud and Abuse - Essay Example While the workersââ¬â¢ compensation system works in the best interest of employees, it is subject to abuse and/or fraudulent practices. Perpetrators of fraud, abuse, or both vary depending on the specific matter in question. This means that employees, employers, and legal experts among others can perpetrate workersââ¬â¢ compensation fraud and /or abuse for differentiated reasons, purposes, or motives (Green & Rowell, 2012). Fraud and/or abuse perpetrated by an employee entail the use of false information, practices, or procedures to obtain compensatory benefits that the employee is not entitled. Eligibility for such benefits is jeopardized, thus resulting in abuse or fraudulent activities that relate to workerââ¬â¢s compensation. When there is enough evidence that fraud and/or abuse in regard to workersââ¬â¢ compensation has occurred, it is important to establish the root cause, reason, purpose, or motive behind the activity. This would require that the perpetrator (the employee) be closely examined in order to ascertain the validity of the evidence available. Once this has been done, the response to workerââ¬â¢s compensation fraud and abuse should allow the perpetrator to explain why such a move was made (Rejda, 2011). This would allow the response team to establish the ground upon which fraud and abuse occurred. Responding to evidence of workersââ¬â¢ compensation fraud and abuse is strong when the baseline of such practices is understood (Green & Rowell, 2012). Once the evidence receives the aforementioned treatment, the next critical step seeks to determine contributory factors that provide loopholes in the system. This can take the form of determining the relationship between the stakeholders that verify and approve workersââ¬â¢ compensation. The idea here is to establish any cooperation and collaboration between fraudulent employees and parties in the compensation system.
How Does Real Estate Affect the US Economy Assignment
How Does Real Estate Affect the US Economy - Assignment Example It might be interesting to note that many sources define real estate as "land and everything made permanently a part thereof, and the nature and extent of one's interest therein" (Real Estate 2007). It is important to remember that the land may not be worth very much in and of itself. It is valuable because of the interest it holds for the owner. Perhaps the land is valuable because of its position in relation to something else. Or it could be valuable because of what lies underneath the soil such as oil, minerals, or even archeological treasures. Or perhaps valuable things reside on its surfaces such as timber, animals, or historical sites. Or it could simply be that the most valuable asset of land is what it can be used for. It then becomes clear that the true purpose of real estate is to create a situation in which the land is developed so it is being used to appropriately further the interest of its owner. According to a brief review of real estate in Wikipedia (Real Estate 2008) real estate covers every step in the process of acquiring or disposing of land. When an individual wishes to find a particular property she may consult a real estate brokerage in hopes of either buying property or investing in the property.Ã Some individuals wish to retain ownership of their property for a variety of reasons but may allow others to use it. They may rent out the buildings or give permission for the land to be farmed or for a profit-generating structure to be built on it. In cases where the primary purpose of a property is to make a profit those involved move into the area of commercial real estate. Commercial real estate can involve the building of a hospital, parking garage, shopping mall, and in some cases (especially for tax and loan purposes) residential structures which will house a specific number of people (Real Estate 2008). Keeping in mind that real estate includes the buildings as well as the land such individuals may require assistance in keeping up with all the things required of the myriad options and transactions required in dealing with property. Real estate has taken this into account and created yet another subfield called property management that devotes its time and resources to exactly this sort of arrangement. Property management tends to be a highly sought real estate service especially among those individuals who own several properties that are rented out and for commercial properties (Real Estate 2008).

Proposal Presentation - Five Guy's Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Proposal Presentation - Five Guy's - Term Paper Example In this case, researchers are made to go through an array of ethical requirements. There is the need to meet professional and institutional standards as well as those for conducting any research related to human participants. In helping steer clear of any ethical quandaries, this research would consider a number of research ethics. First, the researcher would frankly discuss the intellectual property with the participants (Bernardin & Nairn, 2008). More often than not, academic competitiveness leads to trouble depending on who should be credited for authorship. The best way to avoid disagreements on who is to be credited and which order to use, the researcher should talk about the issues at the beginning of the researcher's working relationships with the participants and should ensure they are put in writing (DiMauro & Grant, 2006). This will act as a tool to help discuss and evaluate the contributions during the research process. Secondly, the researchers would be conscious of multi ple roles of the participants. This could be achieved by avoiding relationships that might tend to impair the researchersââ¬â¢ professional performance or could cause harm to others. However, they will have to take note that many multiple relationships are not ethical especially if they could have some adverse effects (Goree, 2006). When recruiting participants in this study, the researchers would have to think carefully before commencing multiple relationships with students. In this case, the researcher would act as a lab supervisor as well as a mentor and would make sure he or she does not abuse the power to differentiate himself or herself from the participants (Bernardin & Nairn, 2008). The researcher would make sure he/she outlines the nature and structure of mentoring before the mentoring begins. Thirdly, the code of ethics to be upheld during the study would be to make sure the informed consent rules are strictly followed. Doing this properly, the consent process would ens ure that the participants voluntarily participate in the research when fully informed of the relevant benefits and risks. Lastly, the researcher would have to consider respecting the confidentiality and privacy of the participants. Respecting individual rights to confidentiality as well as privacy is a key tenet for every researcher (Bernardin & Nairn, 2008). The researcher will, therefore, have to discus confidentiality limits, giving the participants information concerning how their data will be put into use and for them to know the law of the state, as well as taking practical security measures. Failure of observing ethical stipulations may lead to incidences of taboos ââ¬â a common element in the incidents of ethical based violations. However, the task of establishing personal ethics is rather demanding. This is with regard to the essence of ethics in an individualââ¬â¢s life. Adoption of appropriate ethical perceptions is a demand that is instilled in the person by his o r her immediate community. This makes ethics seem inclusive of an expectation as well as the desire to protect oneââ¬â¢s perception of life (Goree, 2006). Ethical beliefs are regularly challenged, especially during the address of various aggressions in the daily lives. The success in the addressing of these challenges implies a positive or impressive performance of our ethical beliefs and research. The development of successful ethical trends is based

Customer Perception on advertising Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Customer Perception on advertising - Article Example This essay "Perception and Consumer Actions" outlines the effect of the advertising on the customers and how the consumers should be treated through analyzing four different articles. The first article which will be analyzed is titled, ââ¬Å"The Effect of Consumer Perception of Store Attributes on Apparel Store Preferencesâ⬠reveals the fact that four distinct variables with respect to store preference: type of clothing in stock, outside store appearance, shopping hours, and advertising. Interestingly, the overall level of impact that these attributes had on store preference varied more widely between stores than researchers at first expected (Paulins and Geistfeld 380). This leads the researcher to infer that different expectations could be a primary motivator that helps to further define and constrain these ââ¬Å"secondaryâ⬠perceptions. Oftentimes, when analysts seek to draw inference upon a specific topic, they already assume that what is being measured is necessarily the primarily important metric. Due to the fact that the reserachers of this particular article approached the issue aware of the fact that other motivations and impacts could have paved the way for the perceptions to be measured in a certain way, this research approach bears a great deal of strength in seeking to define the entire process of consumer perception. A secondary article that will be analyzed and discussed within this brief analysis is that of one entitled ââ¬Å"Advertised versus unexpected next purchase coupons: consumer satisfaction, perceptions of value, and fairnessâ⬠.
